We went to school sooooo long this year. Our state keeps adding days and hours to the school year. These kids aren’t going to be any smarter, just more burned out. But, what do I know.
Audrey walked in her graduation ceremony and received a certificate of completion. Adrienne went to the ceremony while the rest of us stayed back and watched the little boys. Then we all met up for dinner to celebrate.
We’re so proud of this beautiful girl. She worked very hard to get to this night.
We pretended it was summer and started using the pool and meeting up with our neighborhood friends. One night we ended up ordering a take out from the pool and going back to our house. The girls still talk about this impromptu night!
Adrienne’s friend Allison loves to do balloon bouquets for special occasions. She dropped these off the night before graduation. They were fantastic!
Sof has a little buddy from from school named Will. They’ve been in class together every year since kindergarten. He too has an older sister that graduated this year. We’re plotting for them to get married! How cute are they? And he’s such a nice boy.
At least the last two weeks of school have fun things like field day in them.
Plus, I can work or relax from the pool.
Lots of nights end at the pool afterschool!
Sof got to wear her cute summer clothes to school also.
She spent a long time coloring this picture for her teacher.
Graduation parties started. One of our first ones was for Lauren. She was in my kindergarten class, and after getting to know her mom she agreed to watch my kids the next year. Adrienne spent her entire elementary school career getting on the bus from Lauren’s and coming home to Lauren’s. Where did the time go?
We kicked off the boating season with a day on the lake. The water was pretty chilly, but these kids don’t care!
I don’t even remember what this conversation pertained to, but this gives you an idea of my parenting style.
At the end of the cheer season, we decided to make a change for the next year. We visited and tried out a new gym that seemed like a better fit for us right now. We were sad to leave the comfort of our old gym. We have many good friends and memories from those seasons, but sometimes you have recognize it’s time to move on.
There is a chunk of families that also came to the new gym with us, and three of us live in the same neighborhood. It’s been awesome to have carpool options!
We finally arrived at the last few days of school. They had spirit days to end the year, because what mom doesn’t want to think about special clothing on the last 2 days? I think this was tropical day. Ocean/tropical…same thing right?
Remember the bird unit? Well, one of the activities was making a bird feeder. We hung it up and you wouldn’t believe how many birds visited this 2 liter bottle turned feeder each day! Sof would refill the seeds every morning. On this morning before school we walked out just in time to see a squirrel take a flying leap onto the feeder and spill all the seeds out. Sof was horrified. She will forever hate squirrels.
Finally, dear Lord, we arrived on the last day of school(and school spirit day, eye roll).
Second grade with the best bus stop was in the books.
We spent the evening hanging out with some neighbors. One of the little girls had baked and decorated a cake for the occasion! So cute.
Adrienne had her recital that weekend. Bittersweet to see her dance in a recital for last time.
Each senior did a one minute solo. Of course hers was beautiful.
At the end of recital the seniors all come out in their prom dresses and go down the line saying what their plans are for the following year. Every girl is going on to college. Such a bright and talented group of young women.
The next day was Father’s day. Lexi had an offer to go up north with some friends so she missed the celebration, but she loves her daddy anyway just not as much as being with her friends at a gorgeous cottage on the lake.
We really missed Lexi because Adrienne’s domestic skills are…how should I say this…non-existent.
Don’t worry, she’s good at other things.
We spent our first week of summer break being very lazy and low key. We started our mornings on the patio. I attempted to work on this blog while Sof did her summer workbook and we watched the birds swarming to her feeder.
One morning we went to fill the feeder, and found that the squirrels had been eating the feeder. Not the seeds…THE ACTUAL FEEDER! Can’t that kill an animal? Eating chunks of 2 liter bottle? What the heck??
We spent the afternoons at the pool. Lazy summer days.
We made trip in to see Grandma Jackie.
Hey dad, can you take a picture of all of us girls?
Clearly I’m the favorite because he covered up Em.
Two of Sof’s friends were going to camp for ten days, and they were able to receive mail. How sweet these girls are in their friendships.
We ended the month with a trip to Florida for dance Nationals. That, of course, is for another post, but honestly the month of June felt mostly like school days. Once we were done with it though, we went on a wild ride of travels for 3 weeks and it was awesome. Stay tuned…
