Christmas morning brought all the excitement I hoped it would. Sof snuck into our bedroom in the morning, not too early, but early enough. I pulled her into bed with me and we whispered about Santa and what she thought was waiting for her. It wasn’t long before Lexi appeared with Adrienne behind her. I told them to go wake Aunt Sal while I turned the lights on and readied the cameras.
Stockings were first. All 3 of my girls were careful and deliberate, examining each item before they went on to the next. Enjoying the moment and not rushing through it too fast.
Santa deemed Adrienne’s room clean enough to receive an iPhone. Good thing he’s in charge because I’m not sure I agree:) Nevertheless she got it, she’s thrilled, and I have some major leverage now!
Sof got her Hello Kitty make-up which she wasted no time trying out. Stunning.
Lexi loved her stompeez!
Santa was good to us this year! After opening gifts it was time for a big Christmas breakfast.
After breakfast it was time to say good bye to Aunt Sal. I spent some time cleaning up(because unlike the movies it doesn’t just happen) and the kids played with their toys. Then we loaded everything but the kitchen sink into the one horse open mini van and headed to Emily’s for Christmas with Grandma Linda, Papa Curt, and Grandma Jackie.
There is always a ridiculous amount of gifts! So many in fact, that it was light out when we started and the sun had set by the time we finished!
Waiting not so patiently for the grown ups to get themselves into the living room!
Sof got a very appropriate mug from Emmy. On the back it says, “She talks, and talks, and talks, all the time”! LOL
Natty Bug in her new Sweet Seat!
Grandma Linda found a ballerina gnome for Adrienne. Perfect!
Livy made a present at school. She was so excited to give it to her Mommy and Daddy!
Grown ups get presents too! Mark was very happy with his shirts!
Grandma Jackie loves when the kids make her cards. They all made her something and read it to her. Then we made another photo book for her which put her over the edge and made her cry! Sweet Grandma:)
We spent the rest of the evening eating and hanging out around the dinner table. The kids disappeared to the basement, and only resurfaced when they needed a measuring spoon for the Easy Bake Oven.
Why engage in meaningful conversation when you can finally get the group texts that didn’t work on your “old” phone?
Shortly after this Sof fell asleep on my lap and slept the rest of the night. It was a fun, tiring, relaxing Christmas. It was full of overindulgence, family, friends, and memories. Christmas 2012, that’s a wrap.
