Brian had a party for Mark a couple months after his last day. This whole thing was quite complicated, confusing, and emotionally charged for everyone. He certainly isn’t retiring(in fact he had another job by this point already), but this will forever be the bulk of his career life and he did enact an exit plan(in essence retirement). So, whatever you want to call it, we spent a slightly awkward but fantastic evening with people who love and admire Mark. He was the best boss. He cared about each one of his employees and their families. It was obvious they felt it and truly grieved his leaving.
At the end of the day, a business is just that…business. The relationships you create along the way are what matter, and those are not going to change.
