We had another warm September. There was a huge tech failure in our school district that caused issues with the air conditioning, and resulted in a random Wednesday off of school. Jill, Jen and I took the kids to the beach and pretended for a hot second we were still on summer vacay.
We finally found a Saturday to go with Sal to see Adrienne. It was a perfect day to walk around town together!
Sof looked super cute on picture day…
And every other day!
We shopped for Lexi’s homecoming dress and had success!
We did some changing around of rooms in the house. I spent quite some time thinking about what I wanted our front room to look and function like. My main wish was to have a large round coffee table. Luckily I couldn’t find what I wanted in the stores, which led me to seek out someone to make it for me. All the rocks are ones I’ve collected up north, and the design was worked out over several meetings with the builder. This is my dream table and I think that our kids will fight over it when we’re gone.
I love the new room and it’s getting all sorts of use all ready! The brown paper is holding space for a sign that had not arrived yet!
In the process of furnishing the new room, I couldn’t resist the sale on the buffalo check chair I’ve been eyeing for a year. I absolutely love it!
The kids have been obsessed with roller blading, so Em and I took them again. Kaitlyn had a free coupon for the ropes course so we agreed to let Sof and Nat go too. They loved it!
Lexi’s boyfriend asked her to homecoming with a little help from her best girlfriends!
Audrey’s 21st birthday fell on a Jewish holiday that Sof and I had off of school. We had lunch with her to celebrate!
I had the greatest day with my co-workers. My principal’s step daughter owns the most amazing shop in Grand Rapids(Woosah). She hosted a get together for us in the evening, and the during the day we were able to walk around Artprize in the city. It was awesome. Perfect weather, perfect company, perfect day! Adrienne joined us because she’s a Woosah groupie and there was no way I could leave her home!
By total happenstance, Em was in the city as well to get together with some of her friends! She was able to join us for a quick drink!
I have the best staff ever.
We celebrated Audrey’s birthday with the family. It was a beautiful day and great time! I’m so proud of this beautiful girl. She’s done so much growing this year.
Sof and I made it to one of Kaitlyn’s middle school volleyball games.
I’m so proud of my peanut! She’s gotten so strong!
We ended the month with a trip to Chicago just Mark and I. Mark was working the trade show there so we added a couple days on the beginning for pleasure. The view from our room was on point.
We found the closest nice restaurant to the hotel because I did not pack properly for the weather. I was super excited for cooler temps and wearing my sweaters, but in reality it was straight up coat weather!
I made Mark get up the next morning and wait in line for Hamilton tickets.
The good news is we were first in line so we got the only two tickets left for the matinee, which was the only show we could make. The bad news is that they were about as far back as you could get!
We grabbed some lunch at Eatale because it does not disappoint.
No matter where you sit in the theater it’s amazing. I can’t get enough of this show. It is unbelievable, and Mark loved it too!
We had dinner out with Mark’s coworkers that night, and I failed at getting a picture! It was a great little get away and I flew home the next morning. Mark stayed the next few days for work, but someone’s gotta raise these kids;)
I got home just in time to take Sof to the cutest bday party! They made wood block signs, and before I left her I said, “Think about your room when you’re picking paint colors”.
I’d say she nailed it!
