We did it again, another successful Gingerbread party! Of course prep happened on a Friday night. Even Steve got into action with the saw.
We let Anne have another try at putting together a house. It’s just not her thing…obviously. Never have I seen her be successful at this, and it’s been like 5 years!
It gave us a good laugh though, and some inappropriate comments.
The day of the party was harried, but we pulled it off!
We had the usual hot chocolate and treats set out.
Houses were the main event, but we also did our scavenger hunt with a twist!
The girls would tell you it was the best hunt ever! They had to go upstairs, downstairs, and everywhere in-between! After the hunt they settled down to finish their houses and have some treats.
For our last game the girls all sat in a circle with a present(which happened to be all different versions of Gingerbread books). I read a gingerbread story, but every time I said the word “gingerbread” they had to pass their package to the left. At the end of the story they got to keep their book!
After the party we had to rush Lexi off to cheer practice! Sof took her box of prizes with her though, and she sat and wrote and drew while we waited for Lexi.
It’s a lot of work, but every year I’m so glad I did it! The kids really look forward to it, and love every minute! It’s one day I know I’m making memories!
