We made it through another recital season(Hooray for Hollywood was the theme, hence the title:)! It’s two weeks of rehearsals and shows, and it’s crazy busy! We love it though! The car becomes a makeshift dressing room.
Sof spent several days in curlers, even wearing them to school!
The costumes hang in our closet for weeks before, so it’s a big deal when they finally get to wear them!
This is Sof’s tap costume.
We had some time to kill before her rehearsal, and luckily it was a beautiful day!
Her Hippity Hop costume…
Lexi had ballet, tap, and jazz.
Adrienne worked backstage helping in between her numbers.
We had a good crew of friends and family that came to see the shows. For the 6 shows I bought around 35 tickets!
We love Miss Kelli!
Adrienne has to be there really early every time, so that leaves the other girls and I with time on our hands. We end up eating out a lot!
Sof got really good at going backstage! Of course it helps to have your sisters and cousins back there with you!
Sof loves being on the big stage, but what she really likes is an audience! When we pulled in the parking lot for the first show she said, “Is this for real?” She was tired of the “practice”, she wanted her audience!
The last show is the most fun. We blare the music on the way there(Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” was our song of choice this year). Adrienne of course had to be there early, so I used the extra time for Sof to sleep in the car. Then we went in and finished getting ready.
Apparently Grandma takes them out gentler(which is a joke, because I’m sure I have bald spots still from when I was a kid!).
We were very happy that Grandma Jackie made it to the last recital. It’s getting harder for her to travel, and she loves to see the girls dance.
We practically took up a whole row with our people!
Iain came in from Broadway to be at the last show! So great to see him, and such a wonderful surprise!
After the show everyone comes back to our house for some fun. Finally, a little down time with our peeps!
I had no idea there was a green/white/black/navy dress code!
We love recital time, but there is a little sigh of relief when it’s over. The next day is always the graduation party for our dance seniors. There is 6 of them this year. Every year I can’t imagine what it will be like without our seniors, but inevitably, the younger ones step up and fill their shoes!
Adrienne will miss all 6 of them, but Hannah is one of her besties.
The dancing was so fun(and the chocolate fountain!).
Fun stuff! I love to see the dance kids in their street clothes and having fun!
To round out the weekend we have the annual Memorial Day Parade. Thanks to some dry, cool weather it was actually kind of enjoyable this year.
Proud to be an American!
This is the unofficial Dance Dynamics corner!
“All gave some, some gave all”
Livy and Kaitlyn marched but there’s so many of our dancers I couldn’t find them!
For once I finally ended up on the same side as Adrienne!
And with that, it’s over. Crazy dance weeks 2013 over and out.
