Zach’s birthday celebration conveniently fell on Derby weekend. It was a beautiful day, and so nice to reconnect with the Johnson clan.
Mark is really great at planning activities for everyone to participate in. On Derby Day of course there must be some betting involved! He made up an index card with each horse’s picture, name, and number on it. Everyone(kids too) had to put in $5 and then draw a card randomly.
Come race time, everyone gathered to cheer their horse on! Third place was to win $5, second place $15, and first place got $60!
In the end two girls walked away real happy!
Can’t have a party without dessert and a few presents. Zach is such a neat kid. He’s into to all sorts of different things. One of his favorite gifts was a coin for his collection!
At one point in the night Sof got her hands on an iPad. I told her find a place to sit with it. She found a place where no one would bother her!
At the end of the night we lit a Chinese lantern and sent up birthday wishes.
It was great to all be together. We’ll have to work a little harder at that now that we don’t have our cottage. Nights like this remind me how much I miss them!
In other great news…
Ellen is going to expand our family again by one. Another little lovie running around:) We’ll be heading out to her and Andy’s in the beginning of June to find out if we’ll be buying bows or helmets! Can’t wait!!!
